Our history

 
Graduate Program in Computational Modeling of the Federal University of Rio Grande (FURG).
 
The Master's course  PPGMC  began operating from the second half of 2006. The same was originally characterized as a distinct interdisciplinary course due to the formation of their teachers, which included doctors in engineering, mathematics, physics, computer science and oceanography and audience seeking answers, supplying a demand for a master's degree graduates who could have as tickets coming from the mechanical engineering courses, civil and computing, mathematics and physics  FURG as well as related areas of courses in other universities in the region.
 
Despite the diversity of the faculty, the course of action that united all researchers is scientific computation, which was the focus of studies of teachers, especially computing group, and a key tool in the research of others, thus justifying the creation of a post interdisciplinary graduate program of as an area of ​​concentration computational modeling.

EDITAL Nº 02/2026 - Processo Seletivo Simplificado para Contratação de Professor Visitante

O Programa de Pós-Graduação em Modelagem Computacional (PPGMC/FURG) torna público o Edital nº 02/2026 referente ao Processo Seletivo Simplificado para Contratação de Professor Visitante.

O processo seletivo destina-se ao preenchimento de 01 (uma) vaga na área Interdisciplinar, vinculada ao Programa de Pós-Graduação em Modelagem Computacional, para atuação em pelo menos uma das seguintes linhas de pesquisa:

• Mecânica Computacional;

• Modelagem de Fluídos Geofísicos;

• Computação Científica e Modelagem Física, Matemática e Estatística.

As inscrições estarão abertas no período de 31 de março de 2026 a 30 de abril de 2026 e deverão ser realizadas por meio do endereço eletrônico ppgmc.coord@furg.br, conforme orientações constantes no edital.

O resultado final está previsto para 27 de maio de 2026.
