Resumo
This works is studying two emotion theories using category theory. It studies these theory using the notion of Appraisal, a central concept in these theories. To implement the notions of category theory it is used some mathematical algorithms called: Pearson Coecient, Principal Component Analysis and K-means clustering. Pearson Coecient is used to observe if there is a linear relation between emotions. Principal Component Analysis is used to reduce the dimensionality of vectors (representing emotions) to observe similar variation in emotions. Finally, k-means provides clustering between emotions with similar variation. Once the clusters are formed it is used category theory to provide the connection between emotions conserving the structure of the theories. One theory of emotions is The Cognitive Structure of Emotions of Andrew Ortony, Gerard L. Clore and Allan Collins; the other one is Klaus Scherer's theory of emotion Sequential check theory of emotion dierentiation. Due to the complexity of the theories it is proposed a category theory model for specic parts of each theory. It is proposed category theory as an option to establish connections between theories conserving the structure of them because in the state of the art there is not a development to provide connections between emotion theories.
